A jazz foray into the music of Debussy, commissioned by and first performed at Uppingham School for the 2019  Keyboard Faculty concert.

 

The pieces are for piano duet (four hands, one piano). There are five movements:

 

1. Doctor G (based on Doctor Gradus ad Parnassum);

2. Flaxy (La Fille au Cheveux de Lin)

3. Big Sheep (The Little Shepherd)

4. Moon (Clair de Lune)

5. Premiere (Premiere Arabesque).

 

Asked (as I have been!) whether jazzing up Debussy is really the thing to do, my reply is that I prefer to think of it as "Debussy-ing up jazz". Better that way round...
