A 21st Century take on the tradition of Songs Without Words. This form of composition goes back many centuries but is most often associated with the 19th century Romantics. Mendelssohn coined the phrase Lieder Ohne Worte, or at least his sister did, and beautiful examples are to be found in the music of Schumann, Liszt, Grieg, Faure et al.
